Honoring Omer: A Lifesaver Remembered

Campaign Goal: $115,000

Message to donors:

Led by Dr. Rose Bayer

While volunteering in Israel with Magen David Adom (MDA) prior to medical school, Dr. Rose Bayer frequently stayed with the Van Gelder family. Their openness, warmth, courage, and commitment to helping those in need and saving lives made a lasting impact — we ask you to help us carry on his legacy.

Staff Sergeant Omer Van Gelder z”l was a proud MDA volunteer and IDF soldier who began saving lives as a youth medic in Ma’ale Adumim. He rose through the ranks, trained new volunteers, and served with deep compassion and dedication. In June 2025, Omer was tragically killed in Gaza while serving with the Givati Brigade. He was only 22.

Omer’s story is one of leadership, humor, kindness, and heroism. He saved lives, uplifted others, and mentored the next generation of medics — including his own siblings. His legacy continues through all those he taught, treated, and inspired.

Now, you can carry that legacy forward.

Together, we are raising $115,000 to donate a fully equipped Magen David Adom Life Support ambulance in Omer’s memory. This vehicle will respond to emergencies, deliver care, and save lives — just as Omer did.

Join Dr. Bayer, Omer’s community, and all those touched by his light.
🩺 Donate. Share. Save lives. In Omer’s name.
