Opportunities In memory of Scott Cohen
- Medical Equipment and Supplies - $360
- Flack Jackets for Volunteers - $550
- Paramedic Bag – Fully stocked - $1,000
Each MDA first responder carries the MDA iconic Red Bag of Courage. Filled with an almost unimaginable array of medical equipment and supplies, the red bag is a symbol of hope for the patients in our care. Donate a Red Bag of Courage and supply an MDA paramedic or EMT with the hundreds of different medical supplies they need, including: • Adult bone gun • Tube regulator • Asherman valve • Shears • Laryngoscope kit • Vygon & scalpel • Bandages • Oxygen masks • Syringes • Gloves • Critical medications Each bag is restocked after each emergency rescue call with the hundreds of individual items that might be used at any moment.
- Paramedic Protective Equipment Package - $1,000
The lives of MDA paramedics and EMTs are often put at risk during terrorist attacks, wars and natural disasters. MDA needs to provide a protection package to as many of its volunteers as possible. The Package Includes a paramedic vest, bullet-proof vest and helmet.
- HeartSine 350p Automated External Defibrillator - $1,800
When a person suffers sudden cardiac arrest, the risk of a fatal outcome is increased by more than 10% with every passing minute without treatment. The high frequency of sudden cardiac arrest means immediate access to a defibrillator is critical in ensuring survival. Magen David Adom’s paramedics and EMTs resuscitate more than 100 patients per week, and that’s why MDA provides a HeartSine 350p Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to volunteer first responders. First responders are EMTs who drive Medicycles or other vehicles. MDA’s AI-assisted command system locates the closest ones and dispatches them to the site of the emergency. They often arrive before the ambulance and can increase the patient’s chances of survival.
Features of the HeartSine 350p AED: • Compact and portable • Activated with the push of a button • Visual and audio prompts guide the user • Wi-Fi connectivity enables remote monitoring • Intuitive technology adjusts the level of shock given according to need Having this critical device at the ready can be the difference between a life saved and a life lost.
- Butterfly iQ3 Ultrasound - $6,000
Details: When certain injuries occur, minutes can mean the difference between life and death. To address a higher call volume with greater urgency due to rising terrorism and Israel’s multifront war, Magen David Adom (MDA) is increasing its efforts to administer hospital-level care in the field — whether at the scene of an emergency, during patient transport, or in remote environments. Point-of-care (POC) devices, such as the Butterfly iQ3™ ultrasound, provide real-time diagnostic data on site — initiating triage and guiding treatment decisions — that significantly increase survival rates in critical situations. Ultrasound imaging enables clinicians to monitor heart function, guide IV placement, and distinguish between complex conditions, leading to more precise, timely diagnostics and interventions. MDA is equipping Mobile Intensive Care Unit ambulances with the Butterfly iQ3™, a portable, hospital-grade imaging device. Its compact, single-probe design and compatibility with smartphones and tablets offers AI-enhanced imaging for cardiac, pulmonary, abdominal, and musculoskeletal assessments. Paramedics will be able to assess critical conditions such as cardiac arrest, trauma-induced shock, pulmonary embolism, and aortic aneurysm. During cardiac incidents, it can help determine whether to initiate compressions, defibrillate, or administer fluids and medications. Real-time data transmission allows ultrasound scans to be shared immediately with hospitals, improving coordination and continuity of care. The device’s interface makes it accessible across various levels of expertise, ensuring consistent performance during high-pressure scenarios and mass-casualty incidents. In addition to enhancing medical care, the Butterfly iQ3™ helps alleviate patient anxiety by offering immediate visual results amid stressful situations. This includes confirming fetal heartbeat during premature labor or evaluating for invisible injuries such as blood or fluid retention at accident scenes.
